After a period of homelessness in Tennessee, Ismael and his wife, Maria, have lived with her three daughters, Mary, 15, Carmen, nine, and Anna, eight, in a rustic South Austin, Texas trailer park for nearly three years. However, the property owner sold the land to be developed into a Walmart Supercenter and served the residents of the small community with eviction notices.

With Ismael out of work and a looming deadline to move out, the family's future is uncertain. Their savings has dwindled to a few hundred dollars and they fear they will be forced to live on the streets once again. Knowing the difficulties from their past experience, Ismael and Maria decided to take the girls to stay with her sister in Garden City, Kansas until they can get back on their feet. “We have to think about the kids. It’s not easy living on the streets,” Ismael said about their decision.
